Dr. T. Douglas Bradley is a Respirologist, Professor of Medicine and Director of the Division of Respirology, and of the Centre for Sleep Medicine and Circadian Biology at the University of Toronto. He also directs the Sleep Research Laboratories of the University Health Network Toronto Rehabilitation Institute and Toronto General Hospital, and holds the Clifford Nordal Chair in Sleep Apnea and Rehabilitation Research.
Dr. Geoff Fernie is Toronto Rehab’s Research Institute Director and Senior Scientist, and has led the growth of Toronto Rehab’s research enterprise to become one of the most advanced rehabilitation programs in the world. A biomedical engineer by training, Dr. Fernie’s passion is the search for practical solutions to the common problems of daily living for an aging population and for people who live with different forms of disability. He has helped facilitate the development of products, including innovative wheelchairs and lifting devices that empower independence. For over thirty years, he has been providing opportunities and possibilities for individuals who live with disability and helping change the way people perceive disability. Dr. Fernie is the inaugural recipient of The Honourable David C. Onley Award in recognition of extraordinary service to Canadians who live with disability.
Chief Scientific Officer
Dr. Alshaer is a scientist at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute dedicated to developing intelligent diagnostic and therapeutic medical instrumentation. Through collaboration with fellow scientists and engineers, he led the development of ApneaDx. Besides publishing many peer reviewed papers and abstracts, he is the main inventor on 5 patent families. Throughout his career, he won six academic excellence and entrepreneurial awards. He won a federal graduate financial award (NSERC) and helped to raise significant funding for his project through several successful grant applications. Dr Alshaer obtained his PhD degree from the University of Toronto in biomedical engineering. He has more than four years of postdoc research experience at the Ottawa University Heart Institute and the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute. He holds an MD from Marmara University and MSc in Biomedical Engineering from Bogazici University, Istanbul, Turkey.

Starting her career in consulting and finance, Julie Waras Brogren, comes with 15 years’ experience from pharma leadership roles in finance, marketing and market access. The past 7 years, Julie has directed world class launches for Danish diabetes giant, Novo Nordisk. Julie is from Denmark, but has lived, studied and worked in several countries in Europe and Asia and, the past three years, in Latin America based in Sao Paulo. Julie has a Master`s Degree in Business Administration from Copenhagen Business School and Ecole de Management de Lyon, France.
